2019 Colorful Yunnan International Granfondo Cycling Festival will be held in beautiful Yunnan province from 2th to 9th November, 2019. The whole track still runs through the southwest of yunnan province, and the competitors can feel the local conditions and customs of the minority nationalities in yunnan.
2/11 ITS DEHONG TIME(Mangshi-Prologue Time Trial,8.8Km)
3/11 THE BORDER RIDE (Mangshi to Ruili,103Km/44Km)
4/11 THE RIVER RIDE (Yingjiang,147Km/42Km)
6/11 ALONG GAOLIGONG (Tengchong,185Km/33Km)
8/11 THE LAKE RIDE (Dali,115Km,42Km)
9/11 THE SKY RIDE (Lijiang,102Km,37Km)
After the necessary preparatory work, Granfondo will officially open for registration, and the online registration system is expected to open in July. I have a piece of good news to tell you that the number of Granfondo entries for all six stations will be increased to 1000 in 2019. It remains possible for people to also sign up for one or more individual stages, for instance the attractive combination Dali-Lijiang on Friday/Saturday 8/9 November.
Mangshi will still be the first Granfondo city in 2019.Runners in all five stops will kick off the 2019 Granfondo international cycling festival in yunnan province with an8.6km individual time trial on Saturday, 2 November.
The first regular stage is Mangshi-Ruili, aka the Border Ride, which is about 103 kilometers long, with a 6 kilometer climb before reaching Ruili, border city with Myanmar.
Yingjjiang is set to be the new venue for Stage 2 of this year's edition. Dubbed "The River Ride", this stage will take you on a 150+ km ride along the big local river, wetlands and local mountain villages. The long distance will have a mountain top finish at Ximazhen, not as high or long as the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, but spicy enough to warrant an enjoyable evening and rest day afterwards!
Tengchong stop, gaoligong, is still the longest Granfondo course of the year. The 185km course, in addition to rolling hills and bumpy stone roads,is a true test of the contestants' understanding of "long distance, great perseverance".
Dali and Lijiang - two of Yunnan's main tourism hotspots. The Dali stage course could be similar to last year's, although it is envisaged to do a semi circle of the famous Erhai Lake. The Lijiang stage is planned to mirror last year's with finish on top of Maoniuping at 3300m above sea level after the longest climb many of you will ever do in your lifetime.
In the end, you can check travel options. We will have busses from Kunming airport to Mangshi, but you might wish to fly there as well. From Lijiang it is easy to go back to Kunming or elsewhere in China directly.
We meet in Yunnan in November!
